About Elliott Wave Strategy

What is Elliott Wave Strategy?+

Elliott Wave Strategy (EW Strategy) is a professional market analysis platform built around Elliott Wave Theory. We deliver structured daily wave analysis across 27 financial instruments, forex, commodities, indices, and cryptocurrencies, so you always know exactly where each market stands in its wave cycle.

What is Elliott Wave Theory?+

Elliott Wave Theory is a form of technical analysis developed by Ralph Nelson Elliott in the 1930s. It identifies recurring wave patterns driven by investor psychology: markets move in predictable 5-wave impulsive sequences in the direction of the trend, followed by 3-wave corrective sequences. Once you understand the framework, you can anticipate where a market is heading with a precision that no other technical method provides.

Who is EW Strategy for?+

EW Strategy serves traders of all experience levels, from retail traders building their first systematic approach to professional fund managers looking for an additional analytical edge. We cover 27 instruments and deliver analysis in a format that works whether you trade part-time or full-time.

Do I need prior Elliott Wave knowledge to use EW Strategy?+

No. Our analysis is clearly labeled and explained so you can understand the wave position and trade implications even if you’re new to Elliott Wave. That said, we also have a full Education section, articles, the Elliottology glossary, and recommended books, to help you develop deep expertise over time.

How is EW Strategy different from other analysis services?+

Most analysis services offer vague directional calls with no structural basis. EW Strategy gives you a specific wave count at multiple timeframes, Fibonacci-derived entry and target levels, and a precise invalidation level that tells you exactly when the count is wrong. There’s no ambiguity, and no hiding behind vague commentary after the fact.

What is the Star Setup System?+

Our Star Setup System uses color-coded markers on charts to identify trade opportunities. Orange Star means a setup is developing (watch and wait). Green Star means the setup is confirmed and active with defined entry, target, and invalidation. Blue Star means the setup has completed. Green Stars are our highest-conviction setups with minimum 3:1 risk-reward ratios.

How accurate is Elliott Wave analysis?+

Elliott Wave analysis provides a structured framework with built-in risk management. Every wave count has a specific invalidation level, if that level is hit, the count is wrong and you exit. Every published analysis stays dated in our public archive with the levels it rested on, successful and invalidated counts alike. The value is not in being right 100% of the time, but in knowing exactly when you are wrong.

Elliott Wave Education

What are the basic rules of Elliott Wave Theory?+

There are three absolute rules that can never be broken: 1) Wave 2 cannot retrace more than 100% of Wave 1. 2) Wave 3 is never the shortest of waves 1, 3, and 5. 3) Wave 4 cannot overlap the price territory of Wave 1 in an impulse. If any rule is broken, the wave count is invalid and must be revised.

What is the difference between impulse and corrective waves?+

Impulse waves move in the direction of the larger trend and have a 5-wave internal structure (labeled 1-2-3-4-5). Corrective waves move against the trend and have a 3-wave structure (labeled A-B-C). Together, they form the complete 8-wave Elliott Wave cycle. Understanding this distinction is the foundation of all wave analysis.

How do Fibonacci levels relate to Elliott Wave?+

Fibonacci ratios are the mathematical backbone of Elliott Wave. Wave 2 typically retraces 50-61.8% of Wave 1. Wave 3 often extends to 161.8% of Wave 1. Wave 4 usually retraces 23.6-38.2% of Wave 3. These ratios help analysts project price targets, entry zones, and invalidation levels with mathematical precision.

What is Wave 3 and why is it important?+

Wave 3 is typically the longest and strongest wave in an impulse sequence. It represents the point where the trend is most obvious and momentum is highest. Wave 3 usually extends to at least 161.8% of Wave 1 and is accompanied by the highest volume. Most professional Elliott Wave traders focus primarily on catching Wave 3 moves because they offer the best risk-reward ratio.

What is a corrective pattern in Elliott Wave?+

Corrective patterns are counter-trend moves that follow impulse waves. The main types are: Zigzag (sharp, 5-3-5 structure), Flat (sideways, 3-3-5 structure), Triangle (contracting, 3-3-3-3-3 structure), and complex corrections like Double/Triple Zigzags. Corrections typically retrace 38.2% to 61.8% of the preceding impulse wave.

How do I learn Elliott Wave from scratch?+

Start with our free Learning Center at ew-strategy.com/learn, which offers a structured 5-stage path from beginner to advanced. The Cheat Sheet (ew-strategy.com/cheat-sheet) provides a quick reference for all rules and patterns. The Glossary (ew-strategy.com/glossary) defines 58 terms with examples. For hands-on practice, study our daily published analyses to see how theory applies to real markets.

What is the difference between wave degree and wave count?+

Wave degree refers to the size of a wave in the larger context (Grand Supercycle, Supercycle, Cycle, Primary, Intermediate, Minor, Minute, Minuette, Subminuette). Wave count refers to the specific labeling of waves within a particular degree (Wave 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or A, B, C). Understanding both is essential for multi-timeframe analysis.

Analysis & Coverage

Which markets do you cover?+

We cover 27 instruments across four asset classes: Forex (major and minor pairs including EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, XAUUSD, and more), Commodities (Gold, Silver, Oil), Indices (S&P 500, DAX, NASDAQ, Dow Jones), and Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum). What timeframes do you analyze?+

We provide multi-timeframe analysis for each instrument, typically the Weekly or Daily chart for the primary wave degree and the H4 or H1 chart for the intraday degree. This gives you both strategic context and precise tactical entry guidance.

Do you provide entry prices and stop-loss levels?+

Yes. Every daily analysis includes clearly marked entry zones, price targets, and invalidation levels, all drawn directly on the charts. Rather than providing direct trading signals, we show you where key levels sit according to the Elliott Wave structure and Fibonacci relationships, so you can make your own informed trading decisions with full context.
